One of South America's largest land mammals, the Brazilian Tapir is another highlight of the Jaguar safari. Despite its elusive nature, it can often be reliably sighted after nightfall, as they emerge to forage in relative peace and quiet. Brazilian Tapirs are fond of water and tend to stay close to river banks so they can swim away if faced with danger; they can also be found wallowing in pools.
